Mar 12, 2022 | 9:55 PM

The Red Deer Rebels rolled over the Medicine Hat Tigers for a second night in a row on Saturday.

Red Deer beat Medicine Hat 6-2 on the road, 24 hours after coming out victorious 6-3 at home. The Rebels are now 4-2-0-1 against their divisional rival this season — Med Hat has just 10 wins on the campaign to Red Deer’s 38.

On the season, Red Deer has outscored the Tigers 35-19 over seven games. They’ll play one more time this season — March 25 in Red Deer.

On Saturday, the Rebels gave the Tigers a first period made of nightmares, scoring four times on 12 shots.

Talon Brigley (5th) scored on the power play at 7:50 — assists to Jayden Grubbe and Kyle Masters.

Christoffer Sedoff (6th) netted one with assists to Arshdeep Bains and Kalan Lind at 10:06.

The league’s leading goal-scorer, Ben King (45th) then got one on the board at 14:52, Bains assisting once again on what would stand up as the game-winner.

Dallon Melin (9th) then scored with two seconds remaining in the first, Jace Weir and Frantisek Formanek getting the helpers, and it was 4-0 after 20 minutes.

Just 55 seconds into the second, Medicine Hat finally got on the board, Tyler MacKenzie (3rd) beating Chase Coward.

Jace Isley would eventually get it back for Red Deer, scoring at 18:19 of the period, unassisted.

The third went scoreless for the most part, until Kalan Lind (16th) scored his third in two nights to make it 6-1, Bains getting yet another assist.

Josh Van Mulligen scored with nine seconds on the clock to make it 6-2.

Coming into the game, Arshdeep Bains and Ben King were tied for the league-lead in points with 85. Now, Bains has a two-point advantage over his linemate with his three-point performance Saturday for a total of 88 (31G, 57A). King, meantime, is now at 45 goals, first in the league and seven ahead of two players tied for second — Edmonton’s Dylan Guenther and Everett’s Jackson Berezowski.

Rebels play-by-play man Troy Gillard shared this bonkers stat about Ben King after the game…

Bains was named third star of the game, Dallon Melin earned second star honours, and Christoffer Sedoff was the first star.

Chase Coward stopped 22 of 24, improving to 16-9-0-1 on the season.

Red Deer, who’ve now won nine of their last 10 games, outshot Med Hat 35-24, and went 1/6 on the power play, compared to the Tigers at 0/6.

Next up for Red Deer, who clinched a playoff spot on Friday and are locked into second in the Central Divison, is game 58, at home to Saskatoon on March 15. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. with the broadcast live on 106.7 REWIND Radio starting at 6:30.
