Didsbury RCMP respond to fatal motor vehicle collision

Icy highway conditions are believed to have been a factor in a fatal crash that claimed the life of a young woman in Mountain View County on Tuesday.

On Mar. 8, at 5:18 p.m., Didsbury RCMP responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 2A, north of Carstairs near Township Road 304.

Mounties say the investigation indicates that a pickup truck was northbound on Highway 2A when it attempted to overtake a second northbound vehicle. The pickup truck lost control and left the highway, rolling in the ditch.

Police say the 21-year-old female driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An autopsy has been ordered by the office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
