A Drayton Valley man accused of defrauding a local not-for-profit organization of more than $200,000 has been sentenced.

Eric Paul Butz, 36, was convicted of uttering a forged document and given a 22-month conditional sentence order in Leduc provincial court on Feb. 14, along with 24 months of probation.

Butz had originally been charged with fraud over $5000, forgery, and uttering forged documents.

Mounties began investigating allegations against Butz in September 2018 after the organization claimed they had been defrauded of a large sum of money by their treasurer over a four-year period.
