Sentencing scheduled for two men charged in officer-involved shooting near Red Deer
Two men charged in an altercation with an RCMP officer near Red Deer two years ago, in which the officer fired their gun at one of the suspects, are due to be sentenced this spring.
Chasetin John Arthur Morin, 27, and Johnathan Alfred Andrews, 29, are both scheduled for sentencing in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench on June 2, 2022.
Morin and Andrews were charged with counts of robbery, assaulting a police officer, attempting to disarm a police officer, and possession of stolen property over $5000. They were also charged with counts relating to breaching court orders.
RCMP say it was at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 13, 2019 when a lone member driving a marked police vehicle came across a vehicle that appeared to be stuck on the side of the road in the area of Range Road 10 and Burnt Lake Trail.
