RCMP Major Crimes Unit seek to identify individual in relation to Red Deer homicide

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit are looking for assistance in identifying an individual in relation to a Red Deer homicide last week.

On Feb. 1, at 6:00 p.m., Red Deer RCMP were dispatched to the residential block of 59 Street between Gaetz Avenue and 54 Avenue, for a person in distress.

Investigation has thus far determined that the victim interrupted the alleged theft of her vehicle, and as a result, died from injuries sustained when the suspect fled in her vehicle.

RCMP have identified the victim as 30-year-old Reichel Alpeche of Red Deer. Facebook posts from friends and family say she moved to Canada from the Phillipines at the age of 21.

Police say an autopsy conducted on Feb. 2 deemed the cause of Alpeche’s death to be homicide.

Mounties also announced on Feb. 7, that the 2018 Kia Rio involved in the incident has now been found.

Red Deer RCMP are continuing to ask for anyone who witnessed this event, or has dash cam video in the area of Kerry Wood Drive, to 59 Street, to Riverview Avenue, from Feb. 1, 2022, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. to contact Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575.
