Jan 30, 2022 | 2:44 PM

This February, Ubuntu-Mobilizing Central Alberta is running a month-long social media campaign highlighting Black-owned businesses in the area.

To follow along, you can visit the organization’s Facebook page.

“At Ubuntu, we believe in radical inclusivity, and centring the experiences of people and communities of colour. Supporting and uplifting Black businesses and entrepreneurs in central Alberta is a key way to support racial equality and level the playing field,” Ubuntu says.

“Our theme this year is to Highlight, Support, and Promote. Our organization is committed to bringing light to the Black, Indigenous and People of Colour’s experiences, contributions, and achievements in our society. In February, we are dedicated to bringing awareness on ways to support Black-owned businesses for the long-term, and so we may see lasting diversity and equality in the entrepreneurial community.”

The first part of Ubuntu’s campaign can be seen on YouTube here.

Starting Feb. 1 and throughout the month, rdnewsNOW is running a special series of stories for Black History Month. Stay tuned.
