Red Deer RCMP are asking the public for assistance in identifying three suspects involved in an alleged assault and robbery.

On Jan. 18, at approximately 8:30 p.m., an adult male was walking southbound on the Kerrywood Drive walking path, near Overdown Drive, police say.

What’s alleged is that, “Three males approached the victim on the trail, and assaulted and robbed the man of his hockey stick and equipment. One of the suspects then lit the victim’s clothing on fire before they all fled southbound, towards Bower Ponds. The victim was able to smother the flames; however, suffered minor injuries.”

Police say suspect descriptions are limited, but given the nature of the alleged attack, it’s hoped that someone may come forward with information about the incident, or be able to identify the suspects.

The first suspect is described as:

-male with darker complexion
-wearing a balaclava

The second suspect is described as:

-male wearing a balaclava with a pompom on top
-darker grey snowboard jacket, jeans, and beige boots in a similar style to Timberlands

The third suspect is described as:

-also believed to be a male wearing a balaclava
