The Red Deer and District Chamber of Commerce has a new CEO.

Scott Robinson takes on the role with a wealth of experience in his corner, the Chamber notes in a release.

That includes over 25 years of executive and managerial experience, working with various organizations.

In recent memory, Robinson served as CEO for the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, and as executive director for the Hockey Alberta Foundation. Last year, Robinson was named acting CEO of the Central Alberta Sport Authority, and operates his own consulting practice.

He also has a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership from Royal Roads University.

“I am very excited to join the Chamber of Commerce team and want to thank President Matt Cassidy and the Chamber Board for choosing me to help lead the Chamber along with a dedicated and talented staff,” says Robinson.

“Red Deer is such an amazing community, and we have a dynamic and world leading business community that I look forward to listening to and learning from in the months ahead.”

Cassidy notes the search for a new CEO was exhaustive.

“The board is confident in Scott’s experience and ability to lead the Chamber forward, and to propel the successful legacy of the Chamber in support of our membership, and the business community as a whole,” he says.

Robinson, who also has board and volunteer experience with Red Deer Polytechnic, the Westerner Park governance committee, and the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association, officially assumed the role of CEO on Jan. 17.
