COVID forces cancellation, postponement of RDP basketball, hockey games

Red Deer Polytechnic has announced the cancellation or postponement of all games scheduled for this weekend.

“This decision has been made by Red Deer Polytechnic for the health and safety of the student-athletes, coaches, support staff, spectators and campus community,” RDP officials say in a release.

“With the highly transmissible Omicron variant, postponing and cancelling the games below was deemed the best course of action. Red Deer Polytechnic apologizes for the late change in the schedule and for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Friday, January 14, 2022:

• Queens Hockey @ NAIT | Postponed

• Kings Hockey vs University of Alberta | Cancelled (non-conference game)

• Queens Basketball vs St. Mary’s University | Postponed

• Kings Basketball vs St. Mary’s University | Postponed

Saturday, January 15, 2022:

• Kings and Queens Curling, Winter Regional #1 | Postponed

• Queens Hockey vs NAIT | Postponed

• Queens Basketball @ St. Mary’s University | Postponed

• Kings Basketball @ St. Mary’s University | Postponed
