Ponoka man arrested on outstanding warrants

RCMP have arrested for the second time this month, a Ponoka man wanted on outstanding warrants.

On Jan. 6, Ponoka RCMP with the assistance of the Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (CAD CRU), observed a male meeting Jayson Bixby’s description, walk into a residence on 50 Avenue in Ponoka.

Members of the Ponoka RCMP, CAD CRU, and the RCMP Police Dog Service obtained and executed a warrant to search the home and located Bixby hiding in the attic.

RCMP arrested Bixby on all his outstanding warrants. An additional charge of fail to comply with order has been laid.

“This is a wonderful example of different RCMP units working in tandem to safely locate and arrest a potentially dangerous person in our community,” said Staff Sergeant Chris Smiley Ponoka RCMP Detachment Commander.
