Sylvan Lake RCMP welcomes new detachment commander
Alberta RCMP have announced a new detachment commander for Sylvan Lake.
Chief Superintendent Darcy Fleury, District Commander for Central Alberta District, has announced that Staff Sergeant Jay Peden is the new Detachment Commander of the Sylvan Lake RCMP Detachment.
Mounties say Pedin was born in Alberta and grew up in the Medicine Hat area. Having been a member of the RCMP for 21 years, he brings a variety of experience gained through policing in unique policing environments. He has served in Valleyview, Olds, and Red Deer. This will be his second time serving in Sylvan Lake.
RCMP say Pedin understands the need to focus on community engagement, having served on the ASPIRE Special Needs Resource Center Board of Directors, as well as the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Center Board of Directors in Red Deer.
