Frozen: Ice Sculptures at Ross Street Patio on Monday

Jan 8, 2022 | 12:19 PM

The cold weather may benefit Red Deer on Monday as Ice Sculptures are returning to downtown as part of the winter Ross Street Patio.

On Jan. 10, a Grand Reveal will take place from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., with this year’s installation created by Frozen Memories Inc., an ice sculptures and craft ice company based in Calgary.

“Next week, as it is scheduled to warm-up, you will see an installation start to take shape – if you are interested in watching the installation, please bring your family down to the Ross Street Patio and join us,” said Amanda Gould, Executive Director of the Downtown Business Association (DBA).

Fire tables will be on for warmth under a canopy of lights and free hot chocolate will be provided by Black Label Coffee House.

The DBA will be managing the Ross Street Patio programming for the winter season, where they plan on organizing more activities, art installations, live music, and family-friendly events as the season progresses.

They also encourage locals to bring forward new ideas and projects for patio events.

“If you are a community group or an event organizer wishing to bring some activity to Ross Street Patio either now or in the summer, please direct message or call the DBA to find out about the support, including financial support, that we can provide to help your event or activity come to life,” said Gould.

The DBA has been operating in Red Deer for over 30 years, serving approximately 450 business owners in the downtown area. Through partnerships and leadership in advocacy and promotion, the DBA’s goal is for a prosperous downtown that is the place for Red Deerians to live, work, play and do business.
