Wind Chills Near - 40

Extreme Cold Warning back in place for Red Deer region

Jan 4, 2022 | 9:26 AM

Meteorologists with Environment Canada say extremely cold wind chill values near -40 are expected to continue.

Conditions are anticipated to moderate slightly during the day but overnight wind chill values will be near -40 until later in the week.

Albertans are reminded that extreme cold puts everyone at risk, so cover up, as frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

You’re also reminded to keep emergency supplies in your vehicle such as extra blankets and jumper cables.

Also, if it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
