Innisfail RCMP recover stolen vehicle and execute search warrant in Penhold

Dec 30, 2021 | 10:26 AM

Innisfail Mounties are encouraging the community to report any criminal or suspicious activity observed following the arrests of four people last week.

In November, Innisfail RCMP, with the assistance of Innisfail RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), RCMP Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (CAD CRU) and Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team, entered into a controlled drugs and property crime investigation in the Penhold area.

Then on Dec. 23, RCMP observed a stolen vehicle in the Hawthorne area of Penhold. Soon after, RCMP observed the occupants of a nearby residence enter the stolen vehicle. Despite attempts to flee, police were able to arrest one occupant at the vehicle and after a short foot chase, a second occupant was arrested.

Innisfail RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Service’s, obtained and executed a search warrant of the residence. During the execution of the search warrant, RCMP arrested two more individuals. As a result of the search, RCMP seized a number of controlled substances, including GHB, oxycodone, and methamphetamine.

Mounties say the investigation is ongoing and multiple charges are in the process of being sworn for:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Possession of break in instruments
  • Flight from Peace officer
  • Obstruction
  • Possession of a controlled substance

Police say all four individuals who were arrested, were released on an undertaking to appear in Red Deer court on Feb. 16, 2022.

The names of the individuals, however, cannot be released yet as the information has yet to be sworn.

RCMP note that the public plays an important role in helping to reduce, prevent and solve crime. Therefore, anyone with information about, or who suspects illegal activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police.
