Pre-tournament World Juniors game tonight in Red Deer cancelled due to COVID protocols

The World Juniors pre-tournament game scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday night at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre in Red Deer has been cancelled.

Hockey Canada, nor the IIHF have stated the specific reasoning, other than that it is related to COVID-19 protocols.

Two other games are happening at the Peavey Mart Centrium today, with 50 per cent capacity.

Slovakia and Germany are scheduled to drop the puck at 2 p.m., then Sweden takes on Austria at 7 p.m.
