Red Deer RCMP are asking for public help to identify the suspect in an alleged assault and robbery from this past summer.

It was about 7:30 a.m. on July 11, police say, when a male arrived at the McDonald’s restaurant at 2502-50 Avenue on a bicycle.

The individual approached the occupant sitting inside of a parked 2012 Chevrolet Silverado and stole the vehicle.

Around 8:40 that same morning, the suspect drove the vehicle to a Fas Gas at 5926-54 Avenue where he allegedly attempted a robbery.

The suspect is said to have confronted a gas station employee and an altercation occurred. The suspect then fled in the stolen vehicle. Police would recover the vehicle later that day.

RCMP are now releasing images of the suspect in hopes he can be identified.

He is described as having worn a blue hoodie, backpack with bright neon straps, and camouflage cargo pants.
