RDP excited to host three pre-tournament World Junior matchups

Red Deer Polytechnic has a buzz around it as the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre gets set to host three pre-tournament games ahead of the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championship.

“We’re incredibly excited to partner with Red Deer Polytechnic to host USA, Czech, Switzerland and Germany as they get set for the 2022 World Junior Championship,” said Rob Litwinski, CEO Hockey Alberta.

“It was our vision in building the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Center with Red Deer Polytechnic, that we would be able to bring events like these to our community. It’s not only a chance to be a part of building the excitement for the tournament in Red Deer and Central Alberta, but also to offer an affordable, intimate World Juniors experience.”

The game schedule is as follows:

Monday, December 20

USA vs CZE

7:30 pm

Ticket prices are set at $10 a game, or $25 for all three games.

Doors open one hour prior to game time. Concessions and bar will be open on site.

As per Hockey Canada’s vaccination policy, all individuals 12 years of age and older must provide QR code proof of double vaccination. Negative COVID-19 tests WILL NOT be accepted for this event.

Several other exhibition games will be played at the Peavey Mart Centrium, before Red Deer hosts all Group B preliminary round games. More info below…
