Olds hockey player named to Canada’s National Junior Team for upcoming World Juniors
A central Alberta hockey player has been selected to play for Team Canada at the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championships in Edmonton and Red Deer.
Following a four-day selection camp that included a pair of games against a team of U SPORTS all-stars, Ronan Seeley, a 19 year-old, 6’1” defenceman from Olds, AB currently playing for the WHL’s Everett Silvertips, is among 25 players that has been named to Team Canada’s roster for the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship that runs from Dec. 26-Jan. 5.
Dr. Barry Wiens of Red Deer has been named the team’s physician.
The team consists of Three goaltenders, eight defencemen and 14 forwards who were selected by Alan Millar (Tottenham, Ont.), director of player personnel, and James Boyd (Midland, Ont./Ottawa, OHL), the U20 lead for the Program of Excellence management group, with support from Scott Salmond (Creston, B.C.), senior vice-president of national teams.
