Registration for youth winter programming Dec. 14

Dec 10, 2021 | 3:06 PM

Registration for the City of Red Deer recreation, arts and culture winter programming begins Tuesday, December 14 at 12:00 p.m.

New city programming will begin in the first week of January with a full offering of aquatics, sport, family, fitness, visual arts and performing arts opportunities.

The paper version of the Activity Guide will not be produced this winter as there is a customizable online tool: My Activity Guide. The online platform, which can be accessed today, allows users to choose the categories, locations and age groups relevant to them, and contains only up-to-date program information.

There are 230 programs ranging in aquatics (74), arts and culture (37), camps (16), family and community (67), fitness and wellness (46) and sports (23).

“The City of Red Deer continues with enhanced health and safety protocols to ensure the safety of staff, participants and families,” the city released in a statement. Additional hand sanitizer stations remain on site, cleaning protocols will be followed, and guests are asked to stay home if feeling unwell.

The City is also participating in the provincial Restrictions Exemption Program (REP), affecting the facilities. Those needing to provide QR code proof of vaccination, medical exemption or a negative rapid COVID-19 test within 72 hours of entry include:

  • Adults 18 years and over accessing the facility for non-work related purposes
  • Coaches, instructors, trainers, referees, and other sport volunteers above 18 years old
  • Youth 12 to 17 visiting the facility or engaging in activities that combine adult participants

However, children under the age of 12 and youth aged 12 to 17 participating in youth-only activities are exempt.

Children under eight years old must have a parent or guardian on site above the age of 16.

More information about how this affects City facilities is available at www.reddeer.ca/RecUpdate.

Using Look’ n Book to register for activities, customers are advised to visit their accounts prior to registration day to ensure access is up to date. For any questions regarding accounts access please contact Recreation at 403-309-8411.
