Santa Claus returning to Red Deer on Santa Bus

Dec 9, 2021 | 11:42 AM

Santa Claus is coming to town.

Santa and his right-hand Elf are personally visiting Red Deer again this year on a city sleigh: the Santa Bus.

A creation to spread holiday cheer during the pandemic, the Santa Bus became an immediate hit for Red Deerians with its debut last year.

For its second year, the bus is doubling its routes, reaching all four corners of the city.

Beginning this Friday, Santa will begin his tour at 5:45 p.m. and cruise the city streets until 7:30 p.m.

Santa’s bus routes are scheduled as follows:

  • December 10 – Route 1 (red line): North Red Deer (Pines, 67 Street, Johnstone Park, Kentwood, Normandeau, Oriole Park, Riverside Meadows, Highland Green)
  • December 11 – Route 2 (green line): South Red Deer, Downtown (Bower, West Park, Downtown, Gaetz Avenue North)
  • December 17 – Route 3 (blue line): South Red Deer (Sunnybrook, Inglewood, Anders, Morrisroe, Eastview, Clearview Meadows, 55 Street, Downtown, Gaetz Avenue North)
  • December 18 – Route 4 (yellow line): East Red Deer (Vanier, Lancaster, Deer Park, Rosedale, Timberlands, Clearview Ridge)

While the bus won’t be making any stops or going down every street, Red Deerians can follow Santa’s adventure through the MyBus website or by downloading the app.

Instructions for how to use the links can be found on the city’s website: https://www.reddeer.ca/recreation-and-culture/community-programs-and-information/event-information/red-deer-lights-the-night/

The Santa Bus is back in Red Deer this December for four nights and routes covering multiple neighborhoods in the city.
