Rimbey RCMP investigate fatal collision in Ponoka County

Rimbey RCMP are investigating the cause of a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Ponoka County man Tuesday morning.

On Nov. 30, at approximately 11:17 a.m., Rimbey RCMP with the assistance of Ponoka County West Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services responded to a single vehicle collision on Range Road 20 and Highway 53 in Ponoka County.

Mounties say the 62-year-old male driver from Ponoka County was declared deceased on scene.

Police say their preliminary investigation reveals that a truck was travelling northbound on Range Road 20 when the vehicle went off the road and struck a fence before stopping in a field.

RCMP say no further updates are anticipated and the name of the deceased will not be released.
