Oil Kings end Rebels five game win streak
The Red Deer Rebels saw their five game winning streak come to an end after a 5-3 loss to the Oil Kings at Rogers Place in Edmonton Wednesday night.
The first period was off to a slow start until the Rebels broke the ice two and a half minutes before the buzzer rang. The goal came on a power play following a hooking penalty to Edmonton’s Braeden Wynne. Red Deer’s Kai Uchacz scored his seventh goal of the season on goaltender Sebastien Cossa, and was assisted by Ben King and Christoffer Sedoff.
Although the Rebels had a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play, it was Edmonton who outshot Red Deer 11-9 to that point.
Things weren’t looking any better for the Oil Kings when the puck dropped in the second period when Logan Dowhaniuk was sent to the box in the first 10 seconds for kneeing. But just over one minute later, the team flipped a 180 for the rest of the game. Even with fewer men on the ice, Carson Golder scored his second goal of the season on Rebels netminder Chase Coward. The short-handed goal was assisted by Jake Neighbours and Dylan Guenther, and tied the game 1-1.
