Red Deer up to 145 active cases of COVID-19

Alberta is reporting 464 new cases of COVID-19 today.

Combined with recoveries, that means there are now 5,033 active cases, up 32. (NOTE: A previous version of this story stated there was a decrease of 278. We apologize for the error.)

The province did 10,424 tests in the last day, with a seven-day positivity rate of 5.03 per cent, up from 4.71 per cent a week ago.

There have been 3,231 COVID-linked deaths since the pandemic began, including four in the last day.

SCHOOL STATUS DATA

Hospitalizations

There are 470 people in hospital, down five in one day, while ICU admissions are up three to 97.

Of the 373 not in ICU, 236 are unvaccinated, 21 have had one dose, and 102 have had two doses. An additional 14 have had a booster dose.

Of the 97 in ICU, 77 are unvaccinated, five have had one dose, and 13 have had two doses. An additional two have had a booster dose.

CENTRAL ZONE

Red Deer now has 145 active cases of COVID-19, up seven from Tuesday.

Meantime, recoveries in Red Deer rose 10 to 9,147 as the total number of COVID-19 cases attributed to Red Deer rose 17 to 9,373.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 is 81, with the last one reported Nov. 16.

The Central Zone as a whole has 760 active cases as of Wednesday, up 16 in the last day. That’s compared to 1,836 in Calgary Zone and 1,132 in Edmonton Zone. South Zone has 415 and North Zone has 883.

There are 104 hospitalizations in our zone, down nine, and nine people are receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, the same as yesterday.

Central Zone has recorded 396 deaths, including none in the last day.

VACCINATIONS

Alberta has delivered 6,816,267 vaccine doses as of Nov. 23, up 9,095.

88.5 per cent of Alberta’s eligible 12+ population has received at least one dose (75.3% total population), and 83.4 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated (70.9% total population).

A total of 354,526 booster (third) shots have been administered.

In Red Deer, 73,934 (80.7% of eligible & 69.5% *total population) people have received at least one dose, up 47. Meanwhile, 70,160 (76.5%/65.9%) are fully vaccinated with two doses, up 83. (*Government of Alberta uses a population of 106,395 for Red Deer; of those 91,672 are eligible)
