Nobody Hurt

Investigators looking into cause of Garden Heights house fire

Nov 17, 2021 | 12:26 PM

Fortunately, nobody was hurt after an early morning house fire in Red Deer’s Garden Heights neighbourhood on Wednesday.

Deputy Chief Chris Kearns says crews received the call from the homeowner on Grove Close at 7:33 a.m. that there was a fire outside their home.

“The fire was in the back corner of the house. It appears to have started on the exterior and then went into the house and into the ceilings,” he explains. “The fire was knocked down about 8:15 a.m. and we’re just doing some rehabilitation stuff and pulling some of the ceilings insulation out, things like that now.”

Kearns says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
