Red Deer with 193 active cases of COVID-19

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Red Deer has now dipped below 200.

As of Nov. 12, Red Deer has 193 active cases of coronavirus, down from 234 reported Nov. 9. Updated numbers were unavailable Nov. 10, and an update was not provided Nov. 11.

Elsewhere, recoveries have increased by 78 since Tuesday to 8,971, with the total number of cases identified in the city since the start of the pandemic now being 9,242.

Red Deer’s active case rate is currently 181.4 per 100k, which compares to a rate of 83.4 in Calgary, 72.9 in Edmonton, and 156.0 in Lethbridge.

The number of COVID-related deaths in Red Deer remains at 78, with the last one reported Nov. 9.

CENTRAL ZONE

The Central Zone as a whole now has 1,008 active cases as of Friday, down 59 from Wednesday. There are 118 hospitalizations, down one over the past two days, with nine people receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, also down one from Wednesday.

The Central Zone has had 375 deaths linked to COVID-19, with two reported over the past two days.

Elsewhere, the Calgary Zone has 1,734 active cases of COVID-19, the Edmonton Zone 1,246, the North Zone 1,240, the South Zone 508, and nine additional cases in unconfirmed locations.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

Across Alberta, another 841 new cases of COVID-19 were identified over the past two days (470 Nov. 10 and 371 Nov. 11).

This brings the total number of active cases in the province now to 5,745 – down 263 from Tuesday.

With 20,427 tests conducted over the past two days, the province’s test positivity rate is roughly 4.1 per cent.

There are 2,266 active variant cases in the province or 39.4 per cent of all active cases.

There are 554 Albertans currently in hospital with COVID-19, down 28 from Wednesday, with 110 of those patients in ICU, down 13 from Wednesday.

There have been seven new deaths reported to Alberta Health since November 9, bringing the virus’s death toll in our province now to 3,171.

VACCINATIONS

As of Nov. 11, a total of 6,686,587 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta, up 36,830 over the past three days.

Across the province, 87.7 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12+ have received at least one dose (74.6% total population), with 81.8 per cent of those eligible now fully vaccinated (69.5% total population).

In Red Deer, 73,305 (79.9% of eligible & 68.8% *total population) people have received at least one dose, up 237 over the past three days.

Meanwhile, 68,778 (75.0%/64.6%) are fully vaccinated with two doses, up 416 over the past three days.
