Red Deer down to 238 active COVID cases, adds 77th death

CENTRAL ZONE

Red Deer has 238 active cases of COVID-19, down one from Wednesday.

Meantime, recoveries in Red Deer rose by 26 to 8,805, as the total number of COVID-19 cases attributed to Red Deer rose by 26 in the last day to 9,120.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 is now 77, with one reported today.

The Central Zone as a whole has 1,176 active cases as of Thursday, down 10 in the last day.

There are 141 hospitalizations, the same as yesterday, and 16 people receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, the same as yesterday.

Central Zone has recorded 368 deaths, including one reported in the last day.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

The active caseload is now 6,515, down 178 from Wednesday. This with the province adding 516 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

With 12,388 tests conducted over the past 24 hours, the seven-day positivity rate is 4.98 per cent.

There are 677 people currently in hospital with COVID-19, down 20 from Wednesday, with 146 of those patients in ICU, down nine from yesterday.

Of the 531 not in ICU, 346 are unvaccinated, 37 have had one dose, and 148 have had two doses.

Of the 146 in ICU, 121 are unvaccinated, eight have had one dose, and 17 have had two doses.

There have been four additional deaths reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours, bringing the province’s death toll from the virus now to 3,137.

Yesterday’s numbers

Alberta has delivered 6,583,429 vaccine doses as of Nov. 2. Yesterday, vaccinations numbers were not available.

87.2 per cent of Alberta’s eligible 12+ population has received at least one dose (74.2% total population), and 80.6 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated (68.5% total population).

In Red Deer, 72,808 (79.4% of eligible & 68.4% *total population) people have received at least one dose. Meanwhile, 67,465 (73.6%/63.4%) are fully vaccinated with two doses. (*Government of Alberta uses a population of 106,395 for Red Deer; of those 91,672 are eligible)
