Winnipeg tractor trailer driver charged after QEII crash

Oct 28, 2021 | 12:15 PM

RCMP have laid charges following a single-vehicle crash on the QEII Highway this week.

It was just after 7 p.m. on Oct. 27 (Wednesday) when Innisfail RCMP members were dispatched to a single tractor trailer rollover on the highway, just south of town.

The vehicle was heading south and flipped on its side, blocking both southbound lanes, police say.

The lone male driver was treated on scene for his injuries and released by EMS.

However, the 35-year-old male who is from Winnipeg is now charged with operating a motor vehicle transporting goods without securing goods properly. The charge is under the Vehicle Equipment Regulation.

The southbound lanes of the QEII were temporarily shut down while tow trucks removed the unit from the roadway. Link Contracting from Innisfail attended the scene to remove heavy metal objects which had fallen off the trailer.

Innisfail Fire Department and Red Deer County Emergency Fire Rescue Services also attended the scene.
