City’s modified Toys for Tickets program returns for 2021
Toys for Tickets, the City of Red Deer’s annual donation collection program which supports the Red Deer Christmas Bureau, will return this November in a modified format amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through this program, the City typically allows toy donations in lieu of parking ticket payments from November 1-30. All gifts received through the program are donated to the Christmas Bureau to help achieve the goal of ensuring no child in Red Deer wakes up without a toy on Christmas morning.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, officials say the City has revised the Toys for Tickets program in an effort to continue its contributions to the Christmas Bureau.
Similar to last year, the City will make a financial donation rather than have ticket holders purchase and drop off toys. The amount of the donation will be determined based on the total value of early ticket payments (payments made within 10 days of the offence date) for City of Red Deer parking tickets issued in November 2021, to a maximum of $6,300 (the City’s average contribution to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau between 2016-2019).
