Red Deer down to 353 active cases of COVID-19

As of Wednesday, Alberta is reporting 3,073 COVID-linked deaths since the pandemic began, including 10 today.

It was a week ago the province surpassed the 3,000 death mark.

A COVID-linked fatality means the disease was determined to be either the primary or secondary cause of death.

Meantime, the active caseload is now 8,733, down 534 in the last day, and 2,091 over the last week. This with the province adding 645 cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The province also did 11,343 tests in the last day, with a seven-day positivity rate of 6.14 per cent.

Hospitalizations

There are 810 people in hospital, down 26 in one day, and ICU admissions are up one to 184 — also down 19 in the last week.

Of the 626 not in ICU, 397 are unvaccinated, 47 have had one dose, and 182 have had two doses.

Of the 184 in ICU, 149 are unvaccinated, 10 have had one dose, and 25 have had two doses.

CENTRAL ZONE

Red Deer now has 353 active cases of COVID-19, down 17 from Tuesday.

Meantime, recoveries in Red Deer rose 37 to 8,558 as the total number of COVID-19 cases attributed to Red Deer rose by 20 in the last day to 8,986.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 is 75, with the last one reported Oct. 22.

The Central Zone as a whole has 1,722 active cases as of Wednesday, down 114 In the last day. That’s compared to 2,223 in Calgary Zone and 2,025 in Edmonton Zone. South Zone has 928 and North Zone has 1,828.

There are 168 hospitalizations in our zone, up two, and 20 people are receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, the same as yesterday.

Central Zone has recorded 355 deaths, including two in the last day.

The zone’s one-day positivity rate for Oct. 26 is 8.13 per cent, with 1,304 tests done.

VACCINATIONS

Alberta has delivered 6,497,809 vaccine doses as of Oct. 26, up 15,235 in the last day.

86.8 per cent of Alberta’s eligible 12+ population has received at least one dose (73.8% total population), and 79.4 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated (67.5% total population).

In Red Deer, 72,374 (78.9% of eligible & 68.0% *total population) people have received at least one dose, up 112. Meanwhile, 66,326 (72.4%/62.3%) are fully vaccinated with two doses, up 255. (*Government of Alberta uses a population of 106,395 for Red Deer; of those 91,672 are eligible)
