Red Deer with 370 active cases of COVID-19

There are 370 active cases of COVID-19 in Red Deer, down 18 from Monday.

The leaves the city’s active cases rate per 100k at 347.8, which compares to an active cases rate in Edmonton of 122.2, 112.4 in Calgary, and 314.9 in Lethbridge.

Recoveries, meanwhile, have increased by 30 to 8,521, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases identified in Red Deer since the start of the pandemic to 8,966.

Total deaths in Red Deer attributed to the virus remains steady from Monday at 75.

Central Zone

There are 1,836 active cases of COVID-19 in Central Zone, down 39 from Monday, with 166 individuals in hospital, up six from Monday, and 20 of those patients receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, up one from Monday.

The zone has had 353 deaths linked to the virus, with none reported over the past day.

Elsewhere, there are 2,334 active cases of coronavirus in the Calgary Zone, 2,166 active cases in Edmonton Zone, 1,929 in the North Zone, 992 in the South Zone, and 10 additional active cases in unconfirmed locations.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

Alberta Health announced 442 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the total number of active cases in the province now to 9,267 – down 214 from Monday.

375 new variant cases were identified on Oct. 25, bringing the total number of active variant cases to 4,344 or 46.8 per cent of all active cases.

With 7,786 tests conducted over the past 24 hours, the test positivity rate is roughly 5.6 per cent.

There are 836 Albertans currently in hospital with COVID-19, up 15 from Monday, with 183 of those patients in ICU, up one from the day before.

There have been 12 additional deaths reported to Alberta Health in the past 24 hours, bringing the virus’ death toll in our province to 3,063.

VACCINATIONS

In Alberta, 6,482,574 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have now been administered as of the end of Oct. 25. That’s up 17,451 over the past day.

Of the 12+ population, 86.7 per cent has received at least one dose (73.8% total population), while 79.2 per cent of the 12+ population is now fully vaccinated (67.3% total population).

In Red Deer, 72,262 (78.8% eligible/67.9% total) people have received at least one dose, up 62 over the past day.

Meanwhile, 66,071 residents (72.0%/62.0%) are fully vaccinated, up 292. (*Government of Alberta uses a population of 106,395 for Red Deer; of those 91,672 are eligible)
