2019 Games volunteers can view municipal award at Sports Hall of Fame

Approximately 5,000 people volunteered to help make the 2019 Canada Winter Games the success they were.

Earlier this year, at the 2020 Mayor’s Recognition Awards, recognition was given virtually to over 40 individuals and groups or teams, including the Mayor’s Special Award.

This award is given to an individual or team who demonstrates exceptional achievement and has significantly enhanced Red Deer’s profile and the quality of life for residents.

It was ultimately presented to Patricia Martens, on behalf of all 5,000 Games volunteers.

Now, that award is on display at the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame for viewing, photographs and an opportunity for every volunteer to have their moment with it.
