The official results for the 2021 Municipal Election in the Town of Ponoka are now confirmed as listed below.

Office of Mayor

The Office of Mayor has been acclaimed by Kevin Ferguson, who formally has served as a Ponoka town councillor for the past four years.

A total of 1,611 voters cast ballots in the Town of Ponoka 2021 Municipal Election.

• 405 voters cast ballots during the Advance Vote;
• 91 voters cast ballots in the Institutional Votes;
• Three people received Voter Assistance in Home; and
• The remaining 1,112 people voted on Election Day.

Voter Turnout

The total number of eligible voters in the Town of Ponoka based on the 2016 Statistics Canada Census data is approximately 5,500. That equates to a voter turnout rate of about 29 per cent voter turnout in the 2021 Municipal Election.

Swearing in of new council on October 26

The new Ponoka Town Council is scheduled to be officially sworn in at the next town council meeting on October 26 at 6 p.m. at the Ponoka Civic Centre. All meetings are being held online.

The public is welcome to observe this meeting online by registering by 12 Noon on the day of the meeting by phoning 403-783-4431 during office hours Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You will be provided with details on how to observe the meeting by telephone or an online audio link.

School Board Trustees, Senate and Referendum Questions Results

Results for School Board Trustees will be provided by Wolf Creek Public Schools and St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic School Division.
