Strong September for home sales in Red Deer

Home sales in Red Deer last month were the highest seen for September in the past five years.

According to the latest market report from Central Alberta Realtors Association, there were 161 units sold in Red Deer in September. That’s up from 140 units sold in the same month last year and down only slightly from 164 units sold in August.

Year to date numbers show 1,535 units sold in Red Deer so far this year, far outpacing the 940 units sold to this point in 2020.

The average sale price in Red Deer last month was $336,828 – up from $298,918 in September 2020 and $327,301 in August.

Meanwhile, the average number of days to sell in Red Deer last month was 58, down from 67 days in September 2020, but up slightly from 55 days in August.

Throughout the entire central Alberta market, there were 496 units sold in September, up from 484 units sold in September 2020. However, that’s down from 596 units sold in August.

Year-to-date numbers show 5,355 units sold throughout central Alberta so far this year, way up from 3,241 units sold to this point in 2020.

The average sale price throughout the central Alberta market in September was $429,931. That compares to $318,364 in September 2020 and $428,144 in August.

The average number of days to sell in central Alberta last month was 60 days. That compares with 98 days in September 2020 and 61 days in August.
