Olds artist’s kaleidoscopic work spotlighted in Kiwanis Gallery this fall
Before the blinking, swirling diversions of colour television or video games, children found hours of fascination in the colourful and unpredictable transformations of a kaleidoscope. The mirrors in the toy played with diffused light to create delightful, colourful patterns that were unique and amazing with every twist of the tube.
Lorene Runham was inspired by that toy when creating her series of digital abstracts, “Through My Kaleidoscopic Lens,” coming soon to the Kiwanis Gallery. All the images were developed from Runham’s own landscape photographs. Starting from a simple line of trees, or an intimate view of prairie grasses, flowers, or even a bird’s nest, she created a dazzling, rich mosaic-of abstract patterns and colours. Every image will leave the viewer eager to see her next twist.
We hope the community will bring the inquisitive eyes of childhood to the gallery and help support a local artist. (Safe health restrictions apply.)
Red Deer Arts Council is pleased to present Through My Kaleidoscopic Lens: Digital Abstracts by Lorene Runham which runs from October 13 to November 14, 2021 in the Kiwanis Gallery in the Red Deer Public Library.
