Didsbury RCMP are investigating a fatal collision just south of Cremona Thursday night that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man.

Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Sept. 30, Didsbury Mounties responded to a 911 call of a serious motor vehicle collision between a pickup truck and a semi-tractor on Highway 22, approximately three kilometers south of Township Road 300.

Police say the Cremona Fire Department and EMS also responded.

The preliminary investigation reveals the semi-tractor was travelling northbound on Highway 22 and the pick-up truck was travelling southbound.

RCMP say the pick-up truck is believed to have crossed the center line, entered the northbound lane and was subsequently struck by the semi-tractor.

The 26-year-old male semi-tractor driver and lone occupant was assessed by EMS at the scene and released.

The lone driver of the pickup, a 19-year-old male from Cremona, was transported by EMS with critical life-threatening injuries to a Calgary area hospital, however succumbed to his injuries while in hospital.

The RCMP Collision Analyst attended to assist with the investigation.

The collision remains under investigation, however, no further updates will be provided and the name of the deceased will not be released.
