Three charged following search warrant at Oriole Park home

Two people are facing charges following the search of a residence in Red Deer’s Oriole Park neighbourhood last week.

On Sept. 17, the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) executed a search warrant at a residence on Odell Green.

The search warrant resulted in the seizure of stripped copper wire, a large quantity of power tools of various makes, generators, illicit drugs and a suspected bicycle chop shop. Also seized in the home were several watches and counterfeit currency.

In late July 2021, Red Deer RCMP’s Crime Reduction Team (CRT) began an investigation into a residence in Oriole Park after numerous reports from neighbours regarding suspicious people and activity at the property.

57-year-old John Goodheart of Red Deer faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking property obtained by crime, break and enter to a rural property, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, mischief under $5000, breach of prohibition order, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Goodheart has been released, and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Oct. 5.

43-year-old Matthew Comfort of Red Deer faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking property obtained by crime, break and enter to a rural property, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, mischief under $5000, possession of a controlled substance, and fail to comply with release order.

Comfort has been released, and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Oct. 5.

Mounties say a 42-year-old female whose name cannot be released was also arrested and released on an undertaking, pending charges.
