Football Alberta weekly high school rankings

Sep 19, 2021 | 11:24 AM

Here are the Weekly Top-10 Rankings for all four tiers of 12-man high school football in Alberta and the 6-man rankings as well for the 2021 season.

These rankings come out every Sunday until Nov. 7. At that time, those will be the last rankings and teams will take that rank into Provincials.

Teams are slotted into tiers based on their estimated school size, which may change once official counts are known at the end of September. Please note that games vs. US opponents, scrimmages, or tournaments are not taken into consideration for ranking or listed in the overall record of the schools.

GAME(S) OF THE WEEK:

Tier I Feast!

#1 Harry Ainlay Titans vs. #3 Salisbury Sabres

5:00 p.m., Friday, September 24, Emerald Hills Stadium (Sherwood Park)

A bitter rivalry that dates back to the 1980’s these two teams never fail to put on a passion play every time they meet. No neutral site for this game as the #1 team in the Province has to travel deep into opposition territory with the game in Sherwood Park.

#2 Notre Dame Pride vs. #5 Henry Wise Wood Warriors

7:00 p.m., Friday, September 24, Hellard Field at Shouldice Park (Calgary)

Are the Warriors poised to make a breakthrough in 2021? Here is their first real test. Having chosen to forgo exhibition games prior to the season, Henry Wise Wood is the mystery everyone’s been anticipating see play. Are the Pride up for it? We’ll see on Friday.

#4 L.C.I. Rams at #7 Raymond Comets

7:00 p.m., Friday, September 24, Comets Stadium (Raymond)

Both teams scheduled brutal exhibition games to start the year with the Rams going 2-1 and the Comets 0-2. Despite the losses the Comets were close in their games against the #1 and #2 teams in Alberta so don’t sleep on them. This traditional rivalry is one of the best in Canada and with the small-town Friday Night Lights atmosphere that will be in Raymond – I wouldn’t miss this one.

Honorable Mentions

Tier II

#7 Catholic Central at #4 Cardston, Friday, Sept. 24, 7:00 p.m., Walker Field (Cardston)
