Support Worker Program certificate course launched in central Alberta
Non-Profit Agency Alberta Prairies Life Enrichment Training Studio Ltd. (APLETS), along with partner agency, the Central Alberta Brain Injury Society (CABIS), have teamed up to launch the Life Enrichment Support Worker Program Certificate Course.
Officials say central Alberta has been experiencing a crisis due to a lack of Support Workers for the region’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged citizens including elderly/frail, individuals living with special needs, citizens struggling with addictions, mental health, or chronic medical health concerns.
APLETS is said to have consulted with 18+ agencies in central Alberta confirming the dire need for Support Workers and to find out exactly what knowledge, skills, training, and courses the agencies are looking for when they hire Support Workers.
“Our agency took into consideration all suggestions from these agencies and ensured that they are part of the Life Enrichment Support Worker Program. APLETS also heard from many parents, caregivers, guardians, and some of our vulnerable citizens how this important issue is negatively impacting their lives on a daily basis,” reads a press release from APLETS.
