A sentencing date has been set for a Sylvan Lake man charged in a central Alberta drug trafficking operation two years ago.

Dallas Anthony Griffin, 33, is due for sentencing Oct. 20, following a trial held in Red Deer provincial court last week.

Griffin was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, six counts of careless use of a firearm, six of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

It was on July 12, 2019 when local Mounties revealed the results of a joint investigation where Red Deer RCMP and Sylvan Lake RCMP General Investigation Sections arrested three people and seized drugs, cash, weapons, and three hand grenades.

Between June 18 and June 26 of that year, police conducted an investigation into a drug trafficking operation in both Red Deer and Sylvan Lake. On June 27, 2019, a search warrant was executed at a Sylvan Lake residence.

As a result of the search, officers seized 416 grams of methamphetamine, 17 grams of fentanyl, 1.5 grams of cocaine, three hand grenades, body armour, seven firearms, ammunition, and $25,528 in cash.

Griffin’s co-accused, Emily Jean Herman, 22, of Sylvan Lake, sees her matter return to Red Deer provincial court Oct. 26.

A third individual, Lincoln Capel of Red Deer, was also arrested during the search on outstanding warrants and charged with possession of a controlled substance, and failing to comply with a recognizance.
