Red Deer August home sales remain strong and steady

Red Deer home sales remained strong and continued their upward trend in the month of August.

According to the latest figures from Central Alberta Realtors Association, 164 units were sold last month, up slightly from 163 units sold in July.

However, it’s the highest number of home sales in August for Red Deer in the past five years, and compares to 133 units sold in August 2020.

Year-to-date numbers show 1,374 units sold in the city since Jan. 1, compared with 800 units sold during the first eight months of last year.

The average sale price in Red Deer last month was $327,301. That’s down from $359,600 in July, but up from $314,657 in August 2020.

On average, it took 58 days for a home to sell in Red Deer last month. That compares with 55 days in July and 67 days in August 2020.

For the entire central Alberta market, 596 units were sold in August. That compares with 570 units sold in July and 492 in August of last year.

Year-to-date numbers show 4,859 units sold throughout the region so far, up from 2,757 units sold at this point last year.

The average sale price of a home sold throughout central Alberta last month was $428,587. That compares with $437,317 in July and $311,307 in August 2020.

On average, it took 119 days to sell a home in central Alberta in August. That compares with 58 days in July and 101 days in August 2020.
