Third season of ‘Skindigenous’ premieres Sept. 15 on APTN

Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) presents the third season premiere of Skindigenous later this month.

Produced by Nish Media, Skindigenous showcases Indigenous tattoo traditions worldwide, with the third season featuring more Canadian communities than in previous seasons.

Maskwacis, about 75 kms north of Red Deer, is featured this season.

“Traditions brought to light in Skindigenous have almost disappeared due to colonialism, especially in North America,” a press release from APTN notes. “They are now being reclaimed by people and communities who wish to revive them. Skindigenous not only informs and educates, it documents and provides a platform for its audiences.”

According to the network, the series shows how, “the art of tattoo becomes a lens for exploring some of the world’s oldest cultures and their unique perspectives on life, identity and the natural world.”
