Passerby pulls out knife in front of students near Red Deer school
Red Deer RCMP are searching for a suspect after a passerby near Central Middle School pulled out a knife in front of a small group of students on Monday.
In a letter to parents, school officials say the incident happened in the morning during outside activity time, near the fence line on the west side of the school’s property.
The suspect was located on the opposite side of the fence from students on the city sidewalk, adjacent to school property. Staff supervising the students saw the incident and took photos of the suspect to help provide a description to police.
Officials say RCMP were immediately called and attended the school where staff provided them with photos, as well as a description of the suspect. No one was harmed during the incident, and police continue to investigate.
