Two arrested after break-in at Raven oilfield site

Sep 11, 2021 | 5:21 PM

RCMP arrested two people Thursday following an alleged break-in to an oilfield site near Raven, about 42 kilometres west of Innisfail.

It was about 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 9 when members responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle observed on the oilfield site.

RCMP say witnesses belonging to the Ravel Crime Watch group provided a description of the vehicle and the direction it had travelled while Innisfail members were en route.

RCMP located the suspect vehicle a short time later, and then discovered the oilfield site had been damaged, with freshly cut copper wire located in the vehicle.

A male and female were arrested without incident, RCMP say.

Daryl Springer, 42, of Clive, and Brandy Carl, 44, of the Red Deer area, are charged with:

· Break and enter

· Theft under $5000

· Possession of break in instruments

Carl was also wanted on two outstanding warrants and was charged with failing to comply with conditions. Springer was also charged under the Traffic Safety Act.

They were both released and are scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Oct. 6.
