Reminder For Motorists

Local Mounties encouraging safe driving habits with kids return to school

With central Alberta students heading back to class this week and cooler weather expected before too long, RCMP are reminding motorists to remember safe driving habits to avoid collisions and violation tickets.

The Innisfail Integrated Traffic Unit reminds drivers to abide by the speed limits, and to keep sufficient space between you and other vehicles, allowing yourself time to react in case of an emergency, or encountering a road hazard.

Mounties say doing those two things will significantly reduce the risks of being involved in a collision.

“With our children returning to school, it is also of the utmost importance that the speed limits in school zones be respected, and to pay attention to stop signs, pedestrian cross walks, and flashing red and amber lights,” says Cpl. Eric Ponton, Unit Commander for the QE II Integrated Traffic Unit in Innisfail, in a press release.
