Two people are facing charges after Ponoka RCMP responded to a report of a theft of a catalytic converter on the weekend.

On Aug. 29 around 6 p.m., police were called to the 5500 block of 57 Avenue in Ponoka, and located two suspects in a parked vehicle.

Both were arrested without incident following an investigation, which resulted in the discovery of stolen mail from an additional vehicle.

Other suspected stolen property recovered from the suspect’s vehicle included two additional catalytic converters, coiled wiring, and an electric vehicle battery.

35-year-old Cody Saxton of Wainwright, and 31-year-old Tellisa Jackson-Reed of Lacombe have both been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000, two counts of mischief under $5,000, and two counts of theft under $5,000.

Following a hearing, both were released on conditions and are scheduled to appear in Ponoka provincial court Sept. 24.

Police continue to investigate, however since these matters are now before the courts, no further details will be provided.
