Two people are facing charges after Innisfail Mounties seized break-in tools and recovered stolen copper wire following a search of a vehicle and local motel room Sunday.

On Aug. 29, at 8:40 p.m., Innisfail RCMP responded to a report of a theft in progress at a business in a rural area. Police say two suspects were observed to be stealing copper wire.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspects were gone. With evidence gathered from the scene and from witnesses, RCMP say the suspect vehicle was located a short time later at a motel in Innisfail.

Mounties say officers obtained judicial authorization to search the vehicle and a motel room where the suspects had been residing. As a result of the search, members recovered copper wire and break-in tools. Two suspects were arrested.

Jonathan Louis Tattrie, 34, and Kishan Cheri Moore, 25, both of no fixed address, have been charged with theft under $5000, break and enter to a business, possess break-in instruments, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

At the time of his arrest, RCMP say Tattrie also had warrants out of British Columbia and outstanding charges in Alberta for similar offences. After a judicial interim release hearing, he was remanded to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Sept. 1.

Moore was released to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Sept. 7.
