Rip ‘N Rec returns this fall with Back To School edition

The City of Red Deer is offering youth unlimited rides on Red Deer Transit and unlimited access to all City recreation facilities this fall with the Rip ‘N Rec Back To School Pass.

The City has traditionally offered this promotion for the summer months, but was unable to do so in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and public health environment. In an effort to re-engage with our youth, The City has made the decision to bring it back as a special fall promotion.

Rip ‘N Rec is available for those 17 years and under and is valid from September 1 to October 31. There are two pricing options; $50 for children aged 3 – 12 and youth with a restricted transit pass, or $25 for youth who currently hold a valid unrestricted transit pass. This pass, as with the previous summer edition, provides them unlimited access to drop-in activities from swimming, to fitness classes and gymnasium sports – and the means to get there.

“The Rip ‘n Rec Back To School Pass is a fun promotion to welcome Red Deer’s youth back into our recreation facilities,” said Tammy Greba, Recreation Facilities Supervisor. “In past years the Rip N Rec promotion has been very successful and we hope the community will take advantage of the Back To School Pass this fall.”

“We are happy to once again work with our Recreation section in a new season this year,” said Trever Sparrow, Red Deer Transit Superintendent of Conventional Services. “We know that introducing youth to using public transit at an early age encourages lifelong ridership, and this pass allows them to hop on transit to access their favourite places, like the swimming pool or even the mall.”
