Law Enforcement Torch Run’s ‘Free Our Finest’ event returns to Red Deer

Aug 19, 2021 | 2:23 PM

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics Alberta is ready to make their return to events as they partner with Walmart for Free Our Finest.

From August 27 to 29, the Parkland Mall Walmart at 6375 50 Avenue will host law enforcement members who will be locked up and camping on the roof for the entire weekend (54 hours) to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Alberta athletes.

This year’s slate of LETR fundraising events are more important than ever as athletes look to return to the sports they love this fall.

Participating agencies: Alberta Correctional Services, Alberta Sheriffs, Alberta Animal Services, Red Deer RCMP, SAOCC RCMP Telecommunications, and 2 squadron, 41 (one) signal regiment in Red Deer; part of Alberta’s 41 (one) Brigade in the Army Reserve.

A flagship fundraising event for LETR, Free Our Finest, is a unique way for law enforcement to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics in their local community.

Special Olympics has a way of bringing everyone together and building communities of acceptance. Walmart gives back to the law enforcement community, just as the law enforcement community gives back to Special Olympics.
