They say 37-year-old Andre Robert Vromans, of Red Deer, remains in custody until a scheduled court appearance on Sept. 3 in Wainwright. Vromans faces more than 25 criminal charges, including:

· breaking and entering (x3),

· pointing a firearm (x2),

· discharge firearm with intent,

· robbery with firearm,

· flight from peace officer,

· dangerous operation of motor vehicle and operation while prohibited.

RCMP said it was shortly after 10 a.m. on Aug. 16 when they responded to a report of a home invasion. They searched the home, deemed it safe and secured the scene.

Simultaneously, members in other jurisdictions were alerted to be on the lookout for a suspect and suspect vehicle. Within 20 minutes, a neighbouring RCMP detachment had located the vehicle.

Around 10:30 a.m., a police pursuit began, which continued until the vehicle ran over a spike belt. The suspect was arrested around 11:30 a.m. The suspect is known to police, they add.

“One of Wainwright RCMP’s goals is to ensure public safety. By working together within our community and with our neighbours, we will achieve this goal,” said Acting Detachment Commander Corporal Kirk Smith.

“Seeing how Wainwright RCMP and all the surrounding RCMP detachments supported us to assist in making a safe and successful arrest, solidifies my belief that the Wainwright RCMP and our neighbours are doing their absolute best for the safety of our community. Thank you.”

RCMP will not be providing further comment on this incident as it is now before the courts.
