Youth HQ launches Youth Advisory Council

Aug 5, 2021 | 11:30 AM

Red Deer-based Youth HQ has announced the formation of a new Youth Advisory Council.

Funded by the Boston Pizza Foundation, the council is a long-awaited necessity, the agency says.

“We at Youth HQ believe the best way to represent and serve our youth is to hear concerns and needs straight from the source,” Youth HQ says in a release.

“The YAC will intentionally cover the greater youth demographic. Youth ages 15-25, from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and communities are welcome. Youth who participate in our various programs and services and youth who have had no interaction with the agency are encouraged to apply.”

Youth HQ hopes the council will have influence on topics within the agency such as policy and programming, and represent the concerns of youth both in and out of the organization.

Council commitments range from one to four years, with training and workshops taking place in the first few months. These will ensure youth are able to serve to the best of their abilities.

Meetings will last between one and two hours.

Youth interested can apply to be on the Youth Advisory Council by filling out an application. The deadline is Aug. 11.
